Quebec 300-level Highway Expansion
Verus Geomatics performed mobile mapping of a 300-level Quebec highway being planned for expansion. Existing features were extracted from the LiDAR data and converted to CADD. The client was able to use actual condition of the roadway for proposed design.
Owner: Ministère des Transports du Québec
- Deliverables: AutoCad files with centreline, edge of pavement, curb lines, pavement markings and cross-sections, outlines of adjacent buildings and roadside assets in full 3D
- Surveyed to 5cm. Control was provided by the client. Approximately 2km of roadway was surveyed.
- Actual roadway dimensions were used for design, eliminating changes at construction phase due to the use of inaccurate as-built information. Incorrect “current” design inconsistencies were found -- such as area at right where median had been removed.
- Data was collected on a busy roadway in a very small fraction of time compare with traditional survey methods, safely.
